Nathan
De’Shon Myers, a native of Dallas, Texas, holds a BM in Vocal
Performance from the University of Tulsa (TU) and a Professional Studies
Diploma from Mannes College of Music in New York City. In 2000, Mr.
Myers made his orchestral solo debut with the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has participated in young artists programs with Des Moines Metro
Opera, Central City Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and the Chicago Lyric Opera
(Outreach Tour). Myers was a Regional 2nd Place Prize winner in both
the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition (Southwest Region) and the
Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Midwest Region). He has
performed as a soloist with such orchestras as Minnesota Symphony, Colorado
Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and Albany Symphony
with whom he has given two World Premieres of orchestral arrangements
of spirituals, one in 2004 and another in 2005. Full operatic roles
to his credit are Don Giovanni and Marcello with Mannes Opera, Dancairo
with Nevada Opera, Papageno in THE MAGIC FLUTE with Chicago Lyric Opera’s
Outreach Tour, Belcore, Gregorio in ROMEO & JULIET and Valentin in FAUST
with Chautauqua Opera’s mainstage performances, Pooh Bah in THE MIKADO
with Central City Opera, and Dandini in CENERENTOLA. He is the proud
recipient of the Shoshana Foundation’s 2004 Richard F. Gold Career Grant.
In addition to his solo career, Mr. Myers serves as the Director of
Choral Activities at Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. Most recently,
he has been seen in the role of Dr. Malatesta in The Living Opera’s
production of DON PASQUALE. As a Participant of the Inaugural Year of
the Dallas Opera Young Artist Program Myers made his debut with the
company as Fiorello in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE.
