Catherine Cangiano

Catherine CangianoSoprano Catherine Cangiano graduated from the Julliard School, New York City in 1993. She participated in Leonard Bernstein's Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan in 1995. Since then, she has performed in the Julliard Dance Concert, the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation Gala, the Liederkranz Foundation Gala and has given a recital in the IBM Concert Series.

In Berlin she has performed in concert with the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester, the Berliner Philharmonie and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Her operatic roles have included Micaela ("Carmen") and Polly ("Die Dreigroschenoper") for Il Piccolo Teatro dell'Opera, Gainetta ("L'Elisir d'Amore") for the Bronx Opera and Second Lady ("Die Zauberflöte") for Julliard Opera Theatre. Since arriving in Germany she has sung with the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the roles of Leona Gail ("Hexen"), Blumenmädchen ("Parsifal") and Sandmännchen and Taumännchen ("Hansel und Gretel").

In addition to the American Berlin Opera Foundation award, Ms. Cangiano is also the winner of the New Jersey State Opera Competition 1995, the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation Competition 1996 and the Liederkranz Foundation Competition in 1997.
